The National Community Driven Development Program (PNDP) is an instrument of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT) whose development objective is to assist the Government of Cameroon in establishing and implementing a decentralized funding mechanism to ensure a decentralized participatory development in rural areas. Specifically, the Program is designed to support:

The putting in place of a mechanism for funds transfer to rural councils in order to finance priority community infrastructures;

Capacity building of councils in the planning and management development, is expected to increase the supply of basic social services through support of local development by local authorities and the improvement of local governance, the PNDP operates in line with sector strategies, projects and programs. As such, it takes on a multi sectoral aspect enriched by experiences in participatory and local development in the country. Officially launched on May 4, 2011 by the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, the second phase of the Program which includes the coverage of the ten Regions of Cameroon, has known a few changes from the first, this in order to comply with the decentralization process and enforcing project management by councils and local governance.
