The funding priorities set out in the council development plans by the Program, has so far helped to improve significantly its progress towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Cameroon. In fact, in the first half of 2011, 809 projects included in the amount of 18 billion CFA francs has been made, thereby improving the sustainable living conditions of over 1, 5 million people living in rural areas let aside the indirect beneficiaries of goods and services. The main sectors concerned are hydraulic, education, health, rural electrification, transport, local economy, sports and recreation, natural resource management and promotion of women. With these results, should be added those garnered through the implementation of development plan for pygmy people which in addition to the South, has now been extended the Regions of East and Centre. Not to mention the achievements of the Sustainable Management of Land and Agro-silvopastoral systems (SLMP) backed up by the PNDP whose implementation in the North, Adamawa, Centre and West, will allow by the end of 2011 to increase from 74 to 235 the number of micro-projects specifically related to soil conservation. |
